Mental Health Counselling
Mental health counselling is a therapeutic process where trained professionals help individuals address and manage emotional, psychological, and behavioural challenges. It involves working one-on-one with a therapist to explore personal issues, gain insights, and develop coping strategies. The goal is to improve overall mental well-being, resolve specific problems, and enhance quality of life.
Here at Launceston Therapy Collective we work with all individuals from ages 12 and above.
Launceston Therapy Collective is a non-crisis support service.

Outdoor Therapy
Outdoor therapy is a unique, effective, and evidence-based approach to mental health treatment. It provides an opportunity to engage in therapy sessions in a natural setting, which can enhance emotional well-being, reduce stress, and promote a sense of calm.
However, outdoor therapy is not suitable or available for every client. The decision to proceed with outdoor therapy is made collaboratively with the client, taking into account therapy goals, safety for both parties, and the requirements of relevant health insurance providers. Some insurers may only fund therapy conducted in a clinical setting.
Importantly, outdoor therapy is not available as a standalone service; rather, it is offered as an additional modality for suitable clients following participation in clinic-based sessions.
The Effectiveness of Outdoor Therapy
Research supports the effectiveness of outdoor therapy in treating trauma, anxiety, depression, and other mental health disorders. Being in nature has been shown to lower cortisol levels, improve mood, and enhance overall social and psychological well-being. Outdoor therapy integrates these benefits with evidence-based therapeutic techniques, allowing clients to engage in meaningful reflection and personal growth in an outdoor environment.
Outdoor Therapy as Exposure Therapy
For individuals experiencing social anxiety and other anxiety-related disorders, outdoor therapy can also serve as a gentle form of exposure therapy. Engaging in therapy outside of a traditional office setting may help clients gradually build confidence in public or social environments, while still benefiting from the support of their therapist.
Exposure to real-world situations in a controlled and supportive way can be particularly beneficial for individuals struggling with social interactions, agoraphobia, or other avoidance-based behaviours. By incorporating therapeutic conversations into natural and public settings, clients can practice coping strategies, develop resilience, and challenge anxious thoughts in a way that feels organic and empowering.
If you are interested in exploring whether outdoor therapy is right for you, please call or email us to discuss your individual treatment goals and circumstances and determine the most suitable therapeutic approach.
